Should LPG Cylinder Be Kept In The Kitchen?

An LPG cylinder can be found in almost every Indian household and it is impossible to imagine daily life without it. Given it in many places, we must follow certain practices to prevent anything untoward. We see many cases of LPG cylinders bursting, causing serious injuries and even death. Although there has been great progress in safety standards, accidents can happen at any time, so it is important to arm ourselves with some safety tips to prevent them.

You can, but not recommended at all, and avoid it as much as possible.

The LPG cylinder has been placed in a closed space under the kitchen platform through a closed modular kitchen cabinet. As LPG is heavier, if the water leaks the gas, it will not disperse it outside, which will lead to a high level of gas in the cylinder body causing the cavity to heat up when heated and -make the bottle burst.

Always keep the LPG gas stove on a platform higher than the level of the LPG cylinder. Therefore, the reason will not be

  • If there is a fire in the kitchen and if the cylinder is in the kitchen, it will not be easy to close the control valve to stop the gas supply.
  • You do not have the power to extinguish quickly, the cylinder body will heat up and explode as mentioned above.

What safety precautions should you have at home associated with using LPG gas cylinders?

  • First, install an LPG (gas) leak sensor in the kitchen. Vertical sensors are available at low cost. It is better to choose one with a backup battery. Make sure that the sensor is installed at the lower level (where the LPG valve is fixed) near the LPG gas cylinder (if it is outside the kitchen) and/or the cooker.
  • Have a fire detector in the kitchen and where the LPG gas cylinder is installed. Self-contained, battery-operated sensors are available at low cost.
  • Every time you change the LPG gas cylinder, make sure that it releases gas immediately and after 15 to 30 minutes. A hard rubber washer on the cylinder near where the controller connects can cause a leak. Call a gas distributor if water is detected.
  • You can replace the standard gas regulator with a good gas automatic safety regulator (preferably BIS approved) with a gas leak detector and automatically shut it off.
  • Empty and full LPG cylinders should be stored in a cool and ventilated place with a protective cover. Always use BIS-approved tools, including regulators.

You can either use copper or LPG rubber hose gas pipes to connect the LPG gas cylinder. But must ensure you use the right pipe specification and follow best practices.

So, it is always advised to buy genuine quality LPG rubber pipes. You can buy great quality rubber pipes from MM Tradelink. Two premium brands AARON and INDOSAFE offer international standard LPG rubber hose pipes.
